Questions

Frequently asked questions about pre-arranged funerals

What is a pre-arranged funeral?

It is a funeral planned before it is needed. You choose the service, the resting place and the details, and those choices are recorded in a written plan your family can follow.

Is planning ahead the same as paying ahead?

No. Planning ahead records your wishes. Paying ahead, also called pre-funding, sets money aside for them. You can plan without funding, and Bruce will tell you honestly which approach suits you.

How are pre-arranged funerals paid for in California?

Most California plans are paid for through either a state-regulated funeral trust or a life insurance policy dedicated to the funeral. Because their rules differ, ask to read the actual terms for your plan, and keep a copy.

Why are there no prices on this website?

Costs depend on the choices you make, and they change over time. You receive the provider's itemized General Price List before you choose anything, as the FTC Funeral Rule requires.

Can I change my plan later?

Your written wishes can be updated as life changes. Whether the financial terms can change, and what happens if you move or cancel, depends on the agreement you sign. Ask Bruce to show you those terms before you sign.

Do I have to live in Inglewood?

No. Bruce works with families across Los Angeles County, including Ladera Heights, View Park-Windsor Hills, Westchester, Hawthorne, Lennox and South Los Angeles.

What should I bring to the first conversation?

Nothing is required. If you have them, bring any existing funeral or cemetery papers, life insurance policies and military discharge papers. The free planning checklist on this site lists everything else.

Is this the official Inglewood Park Cemetery website?

No. This is the website of Bruce J Young Pre Need Consulting. The cemetery's official website is inglewoodparkcemetery.com, and its office number is (310) 412-6500.
